With the force of her Chinese ink illustrations and without any words, French Laetitia Devernay tells an extraordinary story about music – universal, timeless and at the same time light-hearted and lively. What makes it so special: The 132 pages of the leporello book expand into a nine meter long infinity story without beginning or end.
The large-size Leporello (14,5 x 33 cm) gives a lot of room to the pictures. The book can be leafed through page by page or be unfolded into a 9 meter long forest of pictures.
Applaus is 29-year-old French artist Deverney´s debut and was already awared multiple times. She received, amongst others, the 3rd CJ Picture Book Award 2011 and an honorable mention at the Bologna Ragazzi Award 2011.
Deverney´s illustrations were createtd with chinese ink which is particulary powerful and does not fade. The book was then printed in 3 subtle Pantone colors. With her debut Applaus, Laetitia Deverney created a grand world of notes ... Without words.
